Obtaining certification of qualifield in Physiotherapy by the "University School of Physiotherapy Gimbernat". Barcelona

As students of physiotherapy, we were interested in notions of comprehensive therapy that one of our teachers, they offered in their classes. Such was our interest to obtain the diploma to training carried out a work entitled "Theoretical study of the foundations of the Mezieres method."

Since the early years of practice we focus on the field of rheumatology and traumatology. The experience gained in various centers physiotherapy and in the hospital setting, allowed us to meet many diseases and ways to treat them from a conventional point of view.

Françoise Mézières was the creator of his method and died in 1991. Unfortunately we could not know, but according tell their disciples was a physiotherapist with a strong personality. She was a pioneer in treating muscle following the concept of muscle chain. Perhaps the posterior chain stretching and posture has been so more is known about it, but throughout his career and was described numerous other techniques to treat them.

Everyone recognizes the figure of Françoise Mézières as the introducer of the global physiotherapy based on the concept of body unity, both diagnosis and treatment. His great strength was to be an excellent therapist and improve injured patients considered incurable, but had a great weakness, its publications. Indeed, he did not elaborate enough on the theory that was extracted from the success of his method.

Perhaps this lack of scientific publications has allowed much of his disciples, that emptiness appropriate to theorize about the muscle chains. Numerous techniques come from or have been strongly influenced by the Mézières method among which are: RPGde Philippe Souchard, muscle and joint chains Struyf-Denys, physiological chains Leopold Busquets, the antigimnasia Bertherat Thérèse.

We were interested to know the root of all these global therapies and decided to form in the Mézières method through the Association Internationale de Kinéshitérapie Mézièriste (AMIK) based in Paris. Jacques Philippe Patte as director and Campignion along with other direct disciples of Françoise Mézières, were responsible for providing this training which at that time was made in the beautiful city of Tours, capital of the Loire.

From that year until the present date, we are teachers of the Faculty of Sciences of the Health of the International University of Catalonia in Barcelona. We provide a theoretical and practical course that aims to provide skills to future physiotherapists on myofascial chains and comprehensive therapy.

This year, a new physiotherapy center specializing in the rehabilitation of posture and linked to musculoskeletal disorders, particularly back injuries injuries opens. A private center based in Barcelona where the treatment session is individual and in which quality care is provided. Since then the number of professionals who work with us has been increasing progressively.

For the first time a conference on the Mézières method outside French-speaking countries is organized. We are responsible to lead this event was attended by over 200 participants from various countries in Europe and Latin America.

We present the Ministry of Interior of Spain, the needed documents to create a new partnership, AMIF. We were the founders and since then, presided this partnership with a group of physiotherapists mezieristas.

In March the same year was signed in Paris an agreement between AMIK, AMIF and IFGM. The signatories were Jacques Patte (Director of training AMIK) Guilhaine Bessou (President AMIK), José Ramírez-Moreno (President and former AMIF / IFGM) and Juan Ramon Revilla Gutiérrez (Vice President and former AMIF / IFGM). This agreement IFGM credited as the official entity to perform training Mézières Spain and Latin American countries, with AMIF the body which brings together the professionals trained in this method.

Since we are part of the Board of AMIK, actively participating in all decisions related to the mezierista activity.

Training in the Mézières method in Catalonia has been changing as our academic and practical training has been enriched. We conducted introductory courses in various universities such as the University Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona), and the University School of Physiotherapy Blanquerna Infermeria i belonging to the Universitat Ramon Llull (Barcelona).

From 2008 until today we do in the UIC Graduate the only official on the Mézières method that takes place in Spain.

This year we created the magazine FisioGlobal Mézières method and global therapies. A scientific publication that aims to share clinical experiences and show the results obtained after conducting comprehensive therapies. A magazine open to all disciplines that have as a link a global approach in how to treat the patient.

Physiotherapy has entered the era of scientific evidence. After the Treaty of Bologna, the academic training of the physiotherapist will increase substantially. It's time to get a doctorate and for that we should be well trained on research methodology.

In 2009 we started the Masters in Physiotherapy and scientific evidence, obtaining the title in 2011 by the International University of Catalonia.

At present we are conducting several research projects for the degree of Doctor of Physical Therapy.

For many years we have been interested in the instruments to objectively analyze the obtained postural changes after treatment. Of all measurement tools, we were plumping for software based on digital photography. An easy and economic system but has considerable drawbacks in measurement bias.

As a result of research conducted jointly since 2010 between researchers from the department of computer science at UB, co-ownership agreement for intellectual property to register the ADiBAS "Biometry Automatic Digital Analysis System" it is signed. A computer vision technology to the target 3D posture analysis through multisensor Kinect ™.

The ADiBAS Posture software for measurement and analysis of posture starts its worldwide marketing. Thanks to the results obtained validity and reliability in various scientific studies, this system begins to implant among professionals for its ease of use, accuracy and low cost. Professionals from various fields of health and physical activity and sport are interested in the 3D measurement tool to quantify the position and evaluate the results obtained after treatment.

The Mézières method began its journey towards 1945, since many physiotherapists have increased their powers after conducting training. While it is true that Françoise Mézières interest focused on the practical side, the fact remains that their theoretical contributions were we in line with the results. Is the obligation of physiotherapists mezieristas investigate which interventions are most effective and which are not. Research should be neutral and, therefore, devoid of conceit. Mézières know if the method modifies the natural course of a disease is a priority objective for us. For that we need in the future synergies of collaboration with national and international projects for the development of robust research professionals.

The Mézières method in the twentieth century was a revolution in the XXI century and still evolving.
